Original Post
So one of the things that was discussed during the meet up last Saturday was the idea of a skillz swap.
Ie. what do you do in your real life \ as a hobby that could be exchanged for something someone might want?
I've done it a couple of times with friends - one friend knitted me a lovely tea cosy (I don't knit!) in exchange for me taking photos of her items for her website.
So what skills do you have that are outside of Etsy that you would be willing to share with the rest of us?
I do photography and if anyone wants tips or hints I'd be willing, or even for me to do a photoshoot in exchange for something else.

Hey, great idea!
I am a web content editor and also advise on web content, web structure and usability, so if anybody needs me to look at their website or blog to see if it's user friendly, I'm your woman :)
I am also in the process of doing a bit of work on motivation, so if you want a pep talk *grin*...

Purls I would be really interested in talking to you about web stuff.
Not sure what you would need in return tho?? I'll list a few things here and if any take your fancy let me know.
Handmade cards/invites
Photography
Help set up facebook business page
Graphic Design
I can send you LOTS of audiobooks
...anything crafty, but my brain has run out of specific ideas
PS: this is a great idea. My brother used to have this arrangement with a few friends, he is a programmer, and he was friends with a driving instructor, who taught him how to drive in return for a computer. Also a dentist, who always made sure his teeth were in tip top shape in return for a healthy laptop.
I'm doing something similar with a friend who is teaching me how to drive and in return I helped him set up his etsy shop, facebook page, and twitter.

This was such a fantastic idea Elisa I can see it taking off. Loving the idea of web help Purls.
Have to think about what else I can offer anyone apart from beginners skills in jewellery (finishing strings or the basic earrings, wirewrapped loops etc)

oh - Would any other gemstone lovers like to help each other out identifying unknown (or suspect!) stones in our stashes?

I'm not sure what I need, I know there's lots of advertising that should done. Maybe somebody could just re-do my profile, policies etc. I'm working on getting better photos (have to make some more products first). I have to say, I'm not so much into the technical side of things, I prefer just doing my knitting.
What I can offer is: translations into or from German/ help reading a website if somebody wants to get raw materials from Germany etc (I'm German). Or I can knit a scarf/gloves/socks/cushion covers etc

hi everyone.
i was a website designer for the last ten years so if anyone needs help on the graphic side of your stores, blogs, sites etc. I would be more than happy to assist.
i have a vast (some might call unhealthy) knowledge of photoshop too so anyone needing photos cooked a bit to punch up the colours, retouching on models to remove blemishes, hiding accidental parked cars from the backs of your lovely product shots etc. id be more than happy to help too :)
