Welcome to the monthly thread for June MSOEers! Feel free to update us on your exciting science finds, day-to-day passions and any new items you've listed! Post it all here - please ask before starting new threads.
►►► TEAM CHALLENGE ◄◄◄
Each month we vote on a challenge theme & then use this as inspiration to make something. The point is to be as creative & imaginative as you can!
The themes will rotate between: fields of science, famous scientists & current science news. If you have any suggestions or would like a particular theme in the vote for next month, leave a comment here or convo the team captain PaperUlixis.
MEMBERS: once you've created something for the month's challenge, please post a link to it in the monthly thread. It will be included at the beginning of next month's thread & in the monthly treasury.
►►► CHALLENGE THEME ◄◄◄
The theme for April and May was the tiniest vertebrate discovered in Papua New Guinea (tiny frog): www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/11/paedophryne-amauensis-frog-tinies...
We had two fabulous entries by Katherine of Kokoba!
►►► 100% Team Treasuries ◄◄◄
Tag 100% team treasuries with "etsyteam." Apparently Morgan may include one in the Teams email (not sure how frequently those go out).
Monthly team treasuries featuring the challenge entries will be posted here.

Science in the Etsy blog today! They featured my linocut "Mme Wu and the Violation of Parity" in their short stories series:
I'd just like to say that being on MSOE made this happen. :D I started making portraits of scientists because of our challenges. I always fear that I am too wordy and trying to teach all the science behind something, but I'm happy to report the editor of the short stories series is keen on physics and she wanted to share Mme. Wu's story.

Hey y'all, I am now back home, on the couch, and cancer free. It's been a long week. I'm really pooped and thought I was prepared for this surgery, but it wiped me out way more than I planned on. I can't put any weight on my leg, can't get up without this huge heavy brace on it, can't go anywhere without crutches, can't roll over or move in my sleep, am totally dependent on someone to get me food or anything like that. so hard to go from being super independent to super dependent.

Congratulations Jennifer on having finished your surgery and being cancer free! I hope the recovery goes quickly... but in the meanwhile, maybe this is a time to relax, take it easy, and maybe make some more flowers like those in your avatar.
