Thank you, Laurel, for starting us off in February! Can't believe how fast January whizzed by.

I saw a post by the website CreateMixedMedia on FaceBook and they asked about that art that is created by melting crayons on a canvas and letting them drip. I posted that I had an example of a canvas made by arranging crayons in a heart shape, then melting them in a way that sent the drips outward around the heart shape. I told them it was in Pinterest under my name on my board named "Art I Love."

Then they went to Pinterest and FOLLOWED me! what an honor! So I followed them back. :o)

I want to share a link with all of you. You know of my interest in copyrights and trademarks and how they apply to art. I was on the website "Create Mixed Media" to read a post about people copying/stealing art. Inside this article was a link to one of my favorite artists, Robert Genn, and his newsletter post about stealing art online. And I want to share that with you.

I love how some of the comments include the person's art.

You can sign up for his free newsletters too. I love them. I find them very interesting, informative and funny sometimes too. He shares good ideas about marketing your art as well as his tips about painting.

I forgot to give Stacey Merill (ArtSnark) credit for the photo of the crayons in the heart shape on Pinterest. I found that photo on one of her boards. She has wonderful art and other photos on her boards. :o)

Laurel - Thanks for starting us off for the new month. Time is slipping by so quickly - but that's not so bad, 'cos it means that it won't be so long 'til spring. :)

Linda T - Congratulations, that's a great treasury to be in. I enjoyed looking at it and I love the way that your two pieces are so different from each other. They're great!

Linda ML - Those crayon hearts are gorgeous. I'd seen them somewhere before but forgot where, so it was handy to be able to 're-pin' them. Haven't had much time to look around Pinterest yet, but I think it will be fun and a great way to explore and remember art and other interests. The Robert Genn article was very interesting, thanks for the link. I like 'The Painters'
Keys', so I'm glad you reminded me about it.

Still rather distracted here, but Dad is gradually improving and has just been moved to the rehabilitation ward. We're hoping that we don't get any snow over the next few days, as it's a fair drive to the hospital. ( And it would be hard for Mum to get out of the house if the ground is slippery.)

Hope this is a happy, art-filled month for everyone,
Ann

LindaMWL ~ congratulations on getting your work, that was on the CreateMixed Media site, pinned and followed. Pinterest is a so cool ... with I had more time to be more involved with it. I've had a number of things pinned, and it always feels good. : ) Robert Genn's blog about stealing was really well done. There are no cops on the internet. And in fact, direct copying is happening in the "real" art world too. An artist named Hirst made his fame by directly copying the dot paintings of another artist. He became famous; she didn't. And he copied more than just one artist's work. He also got to a point where he had "helpers" who were making copies of his own work, so he wasn't involved at all. Makes me feel very weird to know this is going on.

Ann ~ Thank you for the lovely comments about my artworks and the Treasury. I'm so glad to hear that your father continues to get better. I hope the snow stays away so you can visit.

Happy Friday all ~ Linda Rae

I finally finished my ACEO collage ... a not just for Valentine's Day piece:

Hi everyone,
LindaT, Congrats on being in that lovely treasury! Your new ACEO is wonderful. I always love red and that color of blue (cerulean?) together.
LindaMWL, You always give us such interesting links! I'm always meaning to figure out how to put a watermark on my art and I never get around to it. Maybe this year...
Ann, Glad to hear your Dad is improving.
I just listed two new linocut prints which can just sneak into the mixed media category because the little footprints are acrylic paint and not printers ink : S They're not really what I think of as mixed media but I'm glad to be able to share them here. I've got a whole series of these, sixteen in all! I'm not really looking forward to photographing and listing them all but it will get done bit by bit. The weather is so dark here so the wall photos aren't turning out well. Making them is the fun part.

Hope everyone is having a fun week!
