Hi! I just registered to postcrossing.com. My friend told me about it yesterday - it is a very simple system for people who want to send and receive cards from all over the world.
I love writing letters and sending snail mail, so Im going it, I already generated two addresses - one is in Russia, the other one in Germany. I cant wait to get something back.
Seems an exciting thing to me that I will get cards from random people from all over the world :)
I still have my old letter writing buddies, but this is something new and exciting.
Anyone else here having any experience with snail mail to share?

ohhh I have been looking for something like this! I love writing letter and snail mail. One of my friends from high school and I managed to keep a journal for a about a year that we would write in and send back and forth with letters and random things we would find like leaves and clippings from magazines. Then life happened :(
I am always really self conscious of writing to strangers though, I have awful spelling no matter how hard I work at it.

I like writing letters too. (English teacher trait!)
I usually send notes and cards to friends and shut ins.
I was once fascinated to find that there are people who here on Etsy that market their enjoyment of writing letters. One shop (which I can not find now in my favorites,) would just write a letter on random topics, including squiggles and clippings, to the buyer. And she was making steady sales.
So maybe you might turn your letter writing interest into a business too.

Ohhh Yeah, that looks like fun. I am going to join. I think I knew about this years ago and completely forgot about it. I used to have a few pen pals, but once people started having kids it petered out.
I kept an online diary for about 8 years on OpenDiary.com I was one of the original authors there, and I met all sorts of people and talked to people around the world it was an awesome experience.

I bought and wrote two postcards today. Some people are really picky and tell you what NOT to send, some include even what they would want you to write - like now I am sending a recipe of my favourite cake to Germany :)
It is fun. I used to write to my best friend for years. Now we are both at the uni and we rarely have the time for an email. And Facebook helped destroy snail mail friendships as well.
I cant imagine writing a letter to someone and selling it on Etsy. That is quite weird.. Although if it is a hobby and a business and people buy, then its probably good for her :)

I signed up!
Personally I don't really care what I get or what people write, but I kind of like the idea of requesting people send recipes, how interesting would that be? New recipes from all over the world I think would be really fun, you could collect them and put all of them in a book. I think I am going to add that to my profile as a suggestion.
