I do believe that it is a fact that Supplies sellers are the largest volume sellers here on Etsy. I'm not talking about dollar volume, but rather, largest number of sales. Which makes most Supplies sellers too busy to post/play frequently in the forums (thereby making them a fairly quiet, or silent, majority). But I think I can safely speak for most Supplies sellers when I say that it's a bit aggravating to be consistently ignored in the Big Banner Promotions on Etsy's front page. And in Etsy Finds and in Featured Seller posts.

Etsy, why does the BIG BANNER on the 'Buy' page say:

"Shop Etsy
Buy unique handmade and vintage items directly from independent sellers around the world." ??????

Why is there no mention of SUPPLIES in that statement? Please add the word 'Supplies'.

And in your public statements, could you mention us there too?

And when you feature items for sale, why not feature Supplies as well? Surely you're well aware that many people come to buy supplies needed to craft their own things.

Disclaimer - most of the time I just accept these facts and go about my business. But a recent and very insulting post (although it probably came from a place of 'naive' as opposed to 'mean') just brought it all to light again....hence this rant/plea...

and how quickly would you imagine this post will drop like a rock....

Harumph. I agree completely. Like you, I typically just accept it as the way things are and go about my business.

BUT

It's tough being a supply seller and I think we are a big part of Etsy's bread and butter, one .20 listing at a time. It would be nice if we were occasionally acknowledged by the marketing team as well as those who create the Etsy Sucess advice.

We are here and we matter.

and I don't think this post *should* drop like a rock, it's terribly important.

and Janet, I agree with you completely, we ARE often silent in the forums because we are busy packing orders and answering customer's questions but this does not mean we matter less. We are busy contributing to Etsy's success and I think we should be recognized for that.

I totally agree!

we can dream in the meantime, right?

I agree - I spend hours dyeing and preparing yarns for sale etc etc and I don't have a chance of my wares being seen in Etsy Finds etc. Not fair!

I agree although I don't sell supplies. I find some of the best, most unique supply items on here. Whenever I get some extra money I go supply shopping :) I would be terribly sad without supply sellers.
