Because they needed to do something to keep themselves busy, and us even busier.
I have been selling online for years now, and it only gets harder and harder daily.
You would think that not one online venue has ever heard of the
KISS method!

if it isn't in the upper right corner.... it is under Your Account in the Drop Down. :)

How to sign out [the new method....]
Hover your mouse pointer over the words 'your account' in upper right of page:
Hi, xxxxxxxxxx. Your Shop Your Account Help
where xxxxx is your display name.
=============================
It seems the experiment that has been running for some months, where the sign out location is moved from the far right of header (original location) {where your name, your shop, your account and help are located} to a location in the drop down menu under 'your account' is being made permanent.
The drop down under 'Your Account' will look like this:
Purchases
Feedback
Public Profile
Settings
Apps
Sign Out

Both irritating pointless changes. I miss the Buy button too. THat is always how i would get to a page to buy things when i have been working on my shop or in the forums. Yes, I guess i can click on the orange square that says Etsy but there is nothing that would lead buyers to think that is a link out of here if they wind up in the forums or other pages and aren't sure how they get back into buying mode.

My sign out button is long gone, but I didn't notice it was gone until I saw this thread LOL

It's a problem for mobile & touch-PC users - popup menu does not display as the popup is attached to a link - Mobile & Touch PC users are sent to a page without the option to sign out - not good.
