Why not add a ooak or one of a kind or unique items link to the browse sidebar. Within you could include sub categories of art, clothes, jewelry, pottery etc.... It would be so easy to just include items tagged or titled ooak.
The sellers listing one of a kind items are buried on this site by the multiples. I realize by just the nature of ooak items this is hard to combat. But if numbers are always going to be the criteria for being featured, ooak items can never compete, yet there are a lot of users that are still looking for unique, one of a kind items.
A little personal experience. I've known this would happen for awhile, so I unlike other types of shops realized I have to go out and seriously market and promote my work and I bring them here to buy, by doing so I bring Etsy and my fellow sellers viewers and customers. I'm happy with that. Shops that are trending or are easily found with browse and now trending likely don't have to do as much work marketing and bringing people to the site. So I contend ooak artists are a big part of Etsy success. Please don't run them off.
