Maybe Etsy should close the remaining forums

I think it is time for Etsy to step up and remove the remaining forums. They are NOT helpful, they are full of people VENTING. They are far more disorganized than when we had all of the forums active and it would be the fair thing to do. If Etsy feels like removing the promotions forum did not hurt business, when I feel strongly in opposition then I would like the remaining forums migrated as well since I think they are not helping anyone.

i agree, teaman.
*seems rather contrary to leave only a four areas for people to enjoy yet remove so many that LARGE numbers of people enjoyed.
so, for continuity, i think everything but Help & Bugs should migrate to the Team format.

Yeah, it's pretty inhumane not to put a dying animal out of its misery. . . And it's really just a cruel joke that the public forums are still labeled as "teams" that you can "join." Seriously--make everything public or make everything a team already.

I made a point of this in another thread but think it is worth repeating here.
I think to belittle the shops that benefited from the forums or make them feel as though the forums helped very few is like me saying I don't wear vintage dresses, it would be nice to get rid of those sellers or I can't wear knitted hats they mess up my hair, those sellers shouldn't be here. How selfish and narrow minded. People are speaking up about the problems stemming from the forum migration because they affected people, and their livelihoods.

I've been answering lots of questions about image problems, listing rules, "where to find" requests ... so these forums are still quite needed.
Perhaps what's needed is simply for the venting to end?!!!

Don't follow the logic here - you're saying that it's ridiculous to say "get rid of vintage sellers because I don't like them," but then you say "Get rid of the new forums because I don't like them."

Perhaps if people would quit telling people to quit venting, the number of posts could be reduced by half!

I only suggested that people quit venting because teaman just complained that the forums are full of venting.
More importantly ... there's still LOTS of helping going on here!

I am saying that because I feel this is the view I see most. People consistently stating the forums that have been migrated never helped them, or they are glad they are gone. What is good for one may not be good for all, but to belittle someone for having a different point of view is doing nothing positive for this site.
Even from the Etsy standpoint, to come out and say that the migrated forums were not beneficial underlines a narrow view. For me the migrated forums have had a huge impact on my business, my friends businesses and it is forcing shops to leave the site. The same conflicting voices could stand here to tell you how they never used Ideas, Business Topics or Site Help. Just because we did not use them, they prove beneficial to may. They should have all been removed or none of them should have been migrated.

perhaps etsy should pay attention to all of us who make it possible for them to earn a paycheck. With out us there is no them.
