Shop announcement SEO

Bon Noel to all Etsians.
Could anyone tell me if your shop announcement helps with Google SEO.
I think I read somewhere that it helps.

I have changed mine just in case.

Yes!! Also your categories are important too. It really made a difference for my shop this holiday season and having great SEO in titles, tags and descriptions. Hope that helps...Merry Christmas!
Thanks Alona, I am still on a learning curve. Glad I changed it I guess no one would search for bonjour....lol
The shop announcement text works together with the keywords you use in the shop title and section names. They all are used by Google to index and rank your shop in the search results.

Add SEO to every part of your shop so that your shop and listings can be found on Etsy's Relevancy search and on Google.

Don't guess on the wording for keyword phrases. Start with using keyword phrases that are often used on Google to search for similar products. The keyword phrases popular on Google are also popular on Etsy.

I suggest using Google's keyword research tool to find appropriate keyword phrases for your listings; adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal?forceLegacy=true

SEO for Google is a lot more than adding keyword phrases but this is the place to start.

LOL. I am a night owl these days. You will rarely find me on the forums in the mornings before noon. That is when I am sleeping.

I did fill my announcement and title with key words a while ago (I have a holiday announcement there too now, but I'll change it back to key words only as soon as the holidays are over) but I can't say it helped me in any way. I just don't get many views from Google in general. I mean 3 a day - tops. I don't know why. I'm syndicated, I'm trying to follow the Google title-tag-description rules - nothing works. So my experience with this is kind of... non-existent.

Hi Monica,

Here's a article on Google SEO that should be of some use to you:

Cheers Marie, thanks for that. Bon Noel to you and all admin staff.
Thanks, Marie! I was especially interested in this article.

www.etsy.com/blog/en/2009/seller-how-to-tag-o-rama-with-descriptive...

I was surprised at some of the style tag suggestions. For example, do people really search for "adorable"? I thought everybody's definition of "adorable" would be different, so there's no sense in using such tags. I used tags like "elegant" before but I stopped eventually because they never brought me any views...

Anyway, there's a lot of food for thought. Thanks again!
