So it sounds like they are getting rid of it. Good. That can only help making our customers feel more comfortable about coming here and buying from us.

I'm afraid, that at this point, no matter what they do, or how public the fix, it's too damn little too damn late...

the more I read the more I believe George Orwell was the most intelligent man that ever lived... I am beyond disturbed by all of this...not sure what I will do ... this may be the last straw for me here...I'm sure no one really cares if i close up my shops but I just wonder what is going to be done with the information already collected... I don't want big brother in my business....no thank you...

As for where else I'm doing as well as ETSY... my sales here shut off like a spigot was turned in the beginning of February.

I'm doing better for views and sales anywhere else I show my work...

my computer has a security program that rejects malware and other illegal activity. if this is illegal/malware, why doesn't the security program on your computer reject it?

Seriously. The internet settings on my computer were set up with the help of of the top security guy at one of this country's major ISPs. I am pretty confident that nothing untoward will ever be happening on my computer while browsing.

You know, I've been wondering about the choice of a chief technology officer as CEO. Now it seems to make more sense. With this hitting the fan, we will need someone who understands what this means and how to clean it up to put a good face on this miasma. Good luck, Chad. You're going to need it.

Let me rephrase that: WE'RE going to need it. As consumers, sellers, visitors, plaintiffs, victims, whatever role we play or even feel that we play, we are involved. The perception of this site is important to all of us.

Why does something always happen around the holidays or close to it?!

That's something I've been wondering every year around this time! Its almost like there is a doom generator that starts in August and doesn't let up until Feb. Selling online is hard enough without all the bull.

and in general...I went to kissmetrics and removed myself from the program...although I'm not all that convinced that will do the trick. If something was installed on my computer, I want to know how to get it the heck out of there! Also, is this why, when I'm on facebook or yahoo I get ads specifically geared towards where I've shopped?

I feel dirty...

@trinlayk - the opt-out button will block kissmetrics on all the sites that you visit that might still use kissmetrics. it's not for companies. www.kissmetrics.com/user-privacy

kissmetrics statement regarding the opt-out for consumers:
"As an additional step to respecting consumer privacy and providing additional tools for our customers, consumers can use the controls below to opt-out or opt-in of tracking by KISSmetrics across all KISSmetrics-enabled websites."

again, to opt-out of kissmetrics across all sites you visit that might still subscribe to their service: www.kissmetrics.com/user-privacy
