Thank you Camilla.

Could you and John Allspaw spend the rest of the day teaching other people at Etsy to communicate as well as you two do?
Thank you!
Two thumbs up!!!
Cool beans!
Ohhh.. one question... where will Etsy gift cards be available for purchase? We can't promote them if we don't know that!

Bizzie from BizzieLizzie says
Does that mean only US shops will be able to accept the Etsy Gift Cards? I'm asking this, since our International friends have not been able to use this feature yet.

Any sign of that changing?

Hi Bizzie,
As I mentioned above, we definitely plan to offer direct checkout to international sellers. Because of the complexities, however, we won't be able to offer this this year - but we ARE planning for this in 2013, as soon as we can. We wanted to get out gift cards for the holidays, but are still working hard to get this done. I know we've been saying that for a while now, but please do know it is something we're working on very diligently.

Thank you! DC is such a fantastic option - it just needs improvement and it sounds like you all are working on it. Can't wait to see it become as good as it can be. =)

*Really want to know more about GCs...I must look for a post/blog I missed on it.
Very cool update! Woo hoo for international customers!
Fantastic, Camilla! 2013 is not that far away!! I know our International friends will be happy with this!!
- For eligible shops, we’ll offer pre-shipping deposits, and decrease the minimum 3-day hold. This is one of our most requested features and is especially important to shops selling custom-made items. We expect to offer this by the holidays, but being eligible means having a history of transactions through direct checkout, so adding it to your shop now can help us to ensure you have all the tools you need for the holiday season.

I don't understand why someone who needs money up front to manage custom orders would need to have a history of direct checkout transactions in order to get the money up front. That seems a bit of a Catch-22. If they could show a history of direct checkout transactions with the current money-after-shipping system, they clearly wouldn't need the money up front.

Why isn't a history of successful transactions on Etsy good enough to qualify someone for any sort of "bonus" in direct checkout? Why does it matter which processing method they used?
