a lady seen an item in my store. She asked for me to hold and what would shipping be to another country. i looked up the info and asked her to let me know when she would be back on. This way I could make the item available and she could buy the item. She said it was the time difference and could I just give her my bank info for payment?

Bank transfers are very common in other countries. It is NOT a scam and it is NOT something to panic about, despite what many who do not understand them may say.
That being said, my understanding is that since they are not commonly used in the US that it would be very expensive for you to receive one. There is nothing wrong with POLITELY informing the customer that bank transfers aren't commonly used in your country and you aren't able to accept payment that way.

Was the buyer in Europe she probably wanted to pay by bank transfer? Which is one of the safest and most come ways to pay for things in Europe. For some resent it is not very well known in US and people there seem to think it is a scam. The details you give to someone to pay you are the same details you give out all the time without thinking about it they are on cheese you give to people on your debit card and you probably give them to utility companies and Phone Company’s when setting up contracts.
