Does search by most recent mean "listed in order of when they were posted by the seller?"

Does the pull down search by "most recent" mean the most recently listed items by the sellers? So that If I have searched a category that had 300 vintage plastic earrings, and then I returned next week and want to see the 10 new ones that had been listed in the past week that I had not yet seen last week, would these be at the top?

Sorry to seem stupid, and this is how it is on ebay with 'newest first,' but I wasn't sure this was what I was seeing on etsy.

It doesn't seem that they are listed in order of when they were posted by the seller when I search by 'most recent'

Yes, most recent is the most recently listed items.

Relevant search results are shown using keyword matches to your search and are not based on any listing time frame.

yes, if you search by "most recent" you see the most recent items listed first on the page.

"Most recent" is the most recently listed, but you still may see some of the same that you saw "a week ago," since some people are still renewing before their items expire.

But, for the most part, I'd say you'd see new items, yes.

But "most recent" can also mean the most recently renewed, not necessarily newest listing. It could be an item that has sat in a shop for years, but the listing was renewed that morning.

Edited to add: It could also be a "renew sold". If a person has 5 of them, and one sells, the listing renews itself.
