Trying to print receipt for DC payment. (First of all, we could sure use a more professional, more space conservative receipt. But I digress ...)

Trying to get it all on one page, so thought I would shorten my "message to buyer."

Went to Info and Appearances, made the changes. Get msg: Your changes cannot be saved. Tried several times; now it seems to "accept" the change, but it does not actually change the outgoing message on the Sold Orders/Print Receipt page.

I really don't want to send 2-page, or double-sided receipts.

Something buggy not letting me save changes? Or not carrying changes over to the receipt printing department?

Thanks!!

As a temporary fix, try printing at less than 100% so it fits on one page.

Thanks, XO! I did try it - and it worked for one receipt, but not another. That one still ran to 2 pp.

That part of the problem I can keep trying to work around - but I still wonder what's up with the inability to save changes to the outgoing message?

Hi MsVicki,

I don't believe a receipt is editable after the sale. As a financial document, it should probably remain intact.

I'm not seeing any of the fields editable, either. Could you tell me where you are trying to make these edits? Thanks!

Hi Matt, thanks for jumping in!

Let's see if I can be more clear. This all has to do with printing Etsy receipts for DC sales.

Seller section: Info and Appearance tab

Down at the bottom of that section: Message to Buyers

It is an editable box, and then there is a "Save Changes" button just below it.

This is the message Etsy includes on receipt pages and in the email buyers receive when they purchase from our shops.

I edited that message today, to try to shorten it up enough to get my receipts to print on just one page.

First problem: it took three tries to get the edit to "stick." Kept getting a "cannot save changes" msg from Etsy.

Second problem: even after the revised message took and remained in that box, the old-and-too-long message continued to be the one that appeared on my printed receipts.

Thanks for checking into it!

I am having a similar problem. I sold an item and want to include the receipt with the order. I added a short line to the message box; it appears to have been changed, but it does not show up on the receipt. If I understand Matt correctly, is it because that item has already been sold? So the change will show up next time I sell something, right. What you said about financial records makes sense. Thanks.

My problem too! It won't change and I had edited it weeks ago when I was having a problem!!

I mean, I have changed it over and over and saved the changes and when a new order comes in, they get the OLD message!!!!

It's embarrassing to not have an accurate message to buyers on the receipt. Wonder why admin is ignoring this??

Hi sidquilts and everyone! I'm so sorry we missed the additional posts.

I tested this in a couple browsers and was able to save the Message to Buyers without any issue. I wonder if there could be a browser issue that is preventing the page from saving properly. Check to see if you have any add ons disabled, and try turning them off to see if that allows you to save the message without receiving an error.

Carla, you're correct: changing the Message to Buyers won't update previous sales. The new message will be included with any future sales.

If anyone is still seeing the old message on their invoices, please contact our Support team directly: www.etsy.com/help/contact That way we can ask for specifics of what your message currently says, and what you've tried to change it to.

Thanks!!

It looks like it's saving but when an order comes in, the message is still the old message from two months ago. I put in a question today (at 2 pm EST) to contact.

Obviously I realize it won't change the previous orders. I keep thinking it will work and then an order comes in with the embarrassing message to buyer from 2 months ago!!

Hoping to hear from somebody soon.

I get no errors on my browser (Chrome) when I save. I have no add-ins.
