Shipping Labels - New Changes

So before the new changes that were made to shipping labels in the past 24 hrs, everytime I paid for a shipping label it would ask if I wanted to print the shipping label. If I clicked yes it would open the shipping label and give me the error document can not be opened. So I learned that if I just click X when it asked if I wanted to print the shipping label it would take me to that order and I could scroll down and print the shipping label from there.

With the changes that were implemented today, if I click print the shipping label it opens the label in a new tab and still gives the error document can not be opened. But now whenever I click the X it doesn't go back to the order, it goes to my open orders. Then I have to go to completed orders and search for the order, and then once it comes up I can print the shipping label there.

What in the world could possibly cause the shipping label to not come up correctly when it asks, but if I "manually" go to the shipping label to print it opens up just fine?

I'm waiting to hear too. now it's more steps and more difficult...a mess!

Hey!

It sounds like you're dealing with two distinct issues. One, you're unable to open your label directly from the overlay that appears when you successfully create your label. Two, we slightly changes the shipping label flow so now it ends on the Sold Orders page instead of the order's invoice page.

On the first point, we do sometimes see pdf readers that in some circumstances have trouble rendering shipping labels. The best advice is to use a pdf reader (or in your case, a successful link) that renders the label correctly for print.

One the second point, we are collecting feedback on this change and will definitely be assessing the best way to proceed through the process of creating labels. Your views here will be taken into careful consideration as we plot any further changes. Thanks for letting us know what works best for you!
Thanks for responding. The second issue I could care less about, if the first issue was not a problem.

The pop-up box that says Print Shipping Label opens the label in a new tab and gives the error. But if I am on the receipt page for an order, I can click Print Shipping Label and it opens in the same tab and does not give the error.

What is the difference in the two scenarios that causes an error on one and not on the other?
Is silence supposed to mean that I should just live with it?

Hi there,

It's difficult to say with precision why one works for you and the other does not. The best guess is that it is a browser conflict of some type, but what exact part of your browser/addons/system might be interfering is something that can only be discovered through experimentation.

One possible way to confirm a browser issue is to test the feature with a second browser, preferably one that is freshly installed. If it works, then the original browser is the source of the issue, and you can test it in various ways to see how it responds. I hope that helps. Thanks!
Thank you Matt! I'm installing Firefox and will see if that works. Since Etsy is collecting feedback, if it does not work, I would like to recommend that there not only be a button on the pop-up to return to sold orders but also a button to return to order receipt.
@Rosa I installed a new browser (Firefox) like Matt suggested and now when I click download shipping label it prompts me to select which PDF viewer I want to use and then opens it up without issue.
