Do you think, it is better to show the actual person who creates the product, which of course would be me - or should I upload a photo of a product I made as a profile picture?

I somehow think, it is more personal to have an actual picture of myself on there but a product would give people an immediate clue about what I'm selling.

What do you think?

You're going to get lost of mixed answers with this one! I believe it's a personal preference. I don't have either me or my product on mine but I do have a clue of what I do on it :) ( when I don't have the sale part on there at least anyway haha)

Your picture is pretty and eye-catching. I think anything eye-catching is good.

I'm a bit of both worlds. I really like to see the artist behind the creations as it makes Etsy seem more personal but at the same time I like seeing a hint of a persons product in their profile picture. Kinda draws me in like a sneak peek.

I think a photo of your product is probably best if you want to draw people in to your shop. For example, if I see a post from you here on the forums and a picture of YOU as the icon, I think "that's nice, now I know who we're talking to", but I'm not particularly curious to go to your shop and find out what you sell. IF, on the other hand, I came across your post here and saw a picture of that intriguing almond with a purple stone, I might be quite tempted to stop by and see what it was.
I agree that a picture of YOU is more personal, but there's good news! There's a (somewhat) new about section where you can post exactly that - photos of you and your workspace just for that purpose :)
Best of both worlds!

It's your personal preference, of course.
I like a product picture or logo myself.

Your picture is gorgeous, but I have seen picture avis that, um, lets just say...are maybe not that persons best photo.

Whatever you think works for your shop. Look at mine. Have fun with it. It can allways be changed.

I am a fan of combining the two. Sometimes my picture is of me with on of my creations, other times it's of something I've made that I feel reflects my personality/self (current picture is a good example of that).

Wow, you guys are fast. I didn't even expect any replies that quick. :D

@ Julie Marie I think youre talking about the new seller information pages. Don't know if thats the official name of them. I think that is definitely a good idea of the makers of Etsy but not the things you would see first.

Still undecided...

I normally like products, but I like to see the face behind the shop too - so whichever works for You.
I click on the interesting ones, no matter is it a person or product.
There's the branding aspect too- it's good to have one image ppl recognize (ok, don't listen to me on that one :D) and it helps with branding, so whatever You upload, choose wisely :)
