I am setting up gift certificates in my shop for the first time....I wasn't going to set them up since I also take Etsy gift cards, but I thought that it would be worth it to set up my own gift certificates as I see a lot of my customers buy as gifts for others.
Is it advisable to send the customer a PDF file with the gift certificate so they can immediately print it? I wanted to do that as a measure of convenience for them, but wanted to be sure this was an OK thing to do. If I did that, would I still need to send them a paper GC?
I'm going to set up "Other" as a payment option when one is ordered and turn it off when the gift certificate is spent, then turn it back on again when I sell another so I don't have non-paying buyers....had a bunch of them when I had Other as an option.
I'd keep records of the GCs sold and each one's certificate number. They won't expire either....if I'd ever close, I'd notify the people who had unspent gift cards. Anything I am missing?
