Turning off your shop mentally

Does anyone else have trouble with turning off their shop in their head? I feel like I am constantly thinking about it. I have lots of things I want to add and change in the new year. How do you stop thinking about your busniness?

With social media too its very hard to switch off entirely.
The best I can do is tell myself 'tomorrow I will check my mail/convos' and that's it. Day off!
Claudine, I agree, you're not alone! I'm glad we can talk about this stuff here! I try to obsess about other things but it always fails, my mind keeps going back to art and creativity!
I can't! My boyfriend makes fun of me for it all the time! We will be watching a movie and I'll jump up to get my idea book, or I'll ask him something like "How do I get people to buy more then one poster" and he just looks at me like "where did that come form" . . .
Same here. I promised my partner I'd slow down after the holiday rush was done, but now I keep working because we are nearly out of ready to ship stock. I can't help myself even though the orders have slowed down.
I have a hard time with this too. I can barely watch tv anymore without opening the laptop :O

My best strategy is taking a walk and taking pictures of interesting things. It is still creative, but I can just dump them on FB and go. Doesn't work so well when it is freezing or rainy (or both) though
I am the same way! We offer vintage finds and I am ALWAYS on the hunt for the next thrift sale / flea market!

Ohhhh, it took a long time to be able to do it. It's only in the last year or so that I have been able to completely NOT think about the shop for hours on end. My creativity pops up sometimes in the most odd times and places, but then I don't mind that part so much. I'm just bummed out when I don't remember it again.
I neglected everything but Etsy right up until the cut-off for Christmas shipping, lol! I figure I can give myself a "break" now and get the house cleaned up for Christmas. :-)
Yes, I have similar moments as described by all of the lovely people above- I find ways to check my etsy stats like 234545345 times a day.
