Creepy or not?

I send a thank you note, once in a while, to people that add items or shop into their favorites, and it is just to be grateful.
Today, I received a convo back saying that it was weird and creepy with a threat to report me to Etsy. I am in chock!
What do you think?

I think Etsy considers it spam.

Right, weird but not creepy. People do not like to be acknowledged for hearting items and favoriting shops. They like to remain as anonymous as they can, since few people are actually going to buy what they heart. Makes them feel uncomfortable. Not a way to make friends here on Etsy.

Yes, Etsy does consider it spam.

Contacting people who add your shop or items to their favorites is against the rules. That person was just giving you a warning, although I wouldn't of used the words "weird and creepy" like they did.

I don't know that I'd call it "creepy", however it is plainly against Etsy's TOUs to contact people who have added you to their favourites.

We are not supposed to contact peole who favorite our items or shops. You can be reported for doing so. While your motives msy be pure, it is against TOU's and some people find it very offensive.

That's against the TOU's... www.etsy.com/help/article/483#conversations

"If someone hearts your shop/item to mark it as a Favorite, that is not an invitation to send a Conversation to that person."

Sorry, but you need to stop doing that.

This, sending a message to someone who favorites an item of yours, is against the terms here on etsy.

I'm sure your heart was in the right place and the message seems harsh but you can be reported for it.

I think it's considered spam.
But personally I don't think it's weird or creepy. I think that was really rude of the person to tell you that. If they were irritated with your convo they could have at least been civil letting you know.

It's considered spam and a pretty big no-no here on Etsy. I usually try to be gentler when I let people know that it's spam but some people get very frustrated with those types of messages.

Not everyone favorites an item because they want to buy it--they might be favoriting it to include in a treasury or for some other reason.
