the special orders you never heard back from...

I've got one.
An item I really loved how it turned out and hoped it got there in time ... but I dont know. I've checked my feedback and convos for days to see the "Yay it made on time and is great" note...but nothing.
I'm itching to hear back so bad :p

....I wont open that can of worms, but sometimes it is so hard not to see your buyers face when their eyes light up in excitement...
(And sometimes, I guess, its better not to see the "that's it?" Face :p).

well, it's only the 26th, but I'd love to hear back on a custom plushie someone wanted me to make, we went back and forth for a month on pictures and stuff, and it got to her 3 days before xmas and she was so excited from the pics

Yikes. I know.

I had sent out an order early last week for someone's Christmas Present. We decided on rush shipping and according to the USPS, it arrived on time, but she never left feedback and I want to know!

It's even harder for me to bite my tongue, cuz she's a seller too, and it's like, you MUST know what this is doing to me! On the other hand, what if I didn't like the feedback she leaves? Better to not say anything, I guess.
...to think of it, there's a couple of more feedbacks I'd love, but I know they received. The international ones are the hard ones.
I had an order last month for an item made in a color I did not normally offer. The customer was so excited when I told her I could do it and was a real pleasure to work with during the planning phase of the order. But after I shipped the item, I never heard from her again. ;-(

I understand your disappointment.
Heehee. I know this feeling so well. This year, however, the majority of my holiday custom orders reported in, which made me very, very happy :D
Ha, I totally just checked to make sure I left you feedback. =)

Still haven't given him to his new owners yet, but since it's bad luck to have an un-named gnome, I settled on Charles for his name (ala Charels Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie TV Show.)
:D Megan and ofcourse it wasn't You :D
and Charles is a great name!

This is one of those things that is the hardest to let go of. We put so much of ourselves (very personal) into our craft that it feels like it will always be tied somehow to us. It does no Earthly good to dwell upon (which I am guilty of too).

It helps to imagine all is super well since they did not "get back to you". First, they don't have to. Second, they don't need to. Third, they are busy just as we are. Fourth, no news is good news. We, after all, are "just" the merchant. We sell something and it now belongs to someone else to do with as they please. We are no longer in the picture ... out of sight, out of mind. Human nature.
Oddly enough if I get the "omg thank you so much" reactions it's before I even send out the item. I've had people tell me stories that lead up to why they purchased the item, siblings who are obsessed with x candy and will love the item, and I appreciate it but then I wonder how the person it was gifted to actually reacted.

I do agree with Susan that we are merely the merchants and it's not really any of our business as it's a transaction not a pass-along gift. But I did enjoy the reactions I got (the positive ones at least) when I did a craft show back in October.

Wanting to know your hard work is appreciated is normal but we have to accept we're not really in the position to know.
