Without getting into specifics, and this didn't happen on Etsy, how would you handle this? It was to the point where I was told not to sell anything until mastering the craft after ten years! What an awful way to start the new year.

Depends on how snarky you want to be I suppose ;) You could take the high road and give them a "Thank you for your concern, however my buyers seem quite happy with the quality of my work" followed by a giant smile, or you could meet them on their level with something like "I'm sorry you feel it took you 10 years before your products were of saleable quality. Thankfully I'm a quick learner."

Or you could just ignore it altogether.

Sorry you're dealing with this :(

I'd have to put some money in the swear jar. :~p

eta: But in seriousness, it would depend on who said it and the circumstances. Do not take it to heart and certainly don't let it spoil your new year!

Ignore.
You're the boss of you.

Geez. Welcome to the world of gems and crystals. There are lots of self appointed gatekeepers out there who think they are so special. I have found if I don't ignore them I might say something I will regret later

I would ignore it. I know it can hurt, but sometimes you just have to put on your big girls panties and keep on truckin.
People who give that sort of unasked for advice are generally pursing their own agenda that has little or nothing to do with you. Of course, it's never bad advice to be told that you can continue to master your craft and improve your skills for the rest of your life. With a little creative rationalization, perhaps you can "hear" that critique in that light.

Haha I love that second option! Though I'm leaning towards not responding because I don't want to hear from them again! I don't need any more negativity.

"Thanks for your opinion..Just dont let the door hit you in the but on the way out!!! " I think your work is stupendous..

Did the person have anything useful to tell you? Any new information or point out anything that you agree needs to be improved? If so, don't let pride stand between you and success. Who cares if the critique was rude or uninvited? If you can benefit, then take the gift.
