I have these maybe 2-3 times a month, sometimes once or twice a month only. it depends.
Considering that you have many items that are customizable I am not surprised you get many questions.
You never know really! I know for a fact that answering potential buyers questions promptly does often convert into a sale.

I don't think it's that people have 'no intention' of buying. Unless they ask you what techniques you use or who your suppliers are LOL. I think some people use the information to decide it's not for them, but some will just go off the idea in between asking and getting an answer, or buy elsewhere. Not necessarily a similar item even, if people are looking for a nice gift they might end up choosing something completely different in the end!
That's why if you get questions come up it's best to add that information to your listings - give people the chance to buy while they're still in the mood to ;-)

All the time, it doesn't bother me unless we go back and forth discussing options and get to the point of them buying and then they just disappear, then I must admit I get a little disappointed, but can't be helped, thats just how it is. The questions I hate are the if I buy X amount what kind of discount will you give me, yeah I don't haggle with anybody, so then I'm pretty much hoping they don't buy from me and just move on, I'm sorry but you wouldn't pull that in a regular store and my prices are as low as I can go already.
Here's another way to look at it. How many times have you asked about something, not intending to buy it, but were convinced by good customer service and salesmanship that it was a good value?
Questions are an opportunity to get the sale. I think a polite and confident push is in order. I don't mean slimey salesperson push, but a genuine "hey I stand behind my product, people love it for this and that reason and you will too" attitude.
I was shopping earlier and it wasn't even a salesperson, but another customer who saw I picked up something she loved and explained its benefits. That's all it took.
I think if sellers responded to their questions in a timely and confident way, they're more likely to get the sale. Not saying always, but service goes a long way.
