I had a customer from another website email me about a silver plated ring that was ordered two months ago, stating that she was under the impression that the ring would remain silver. I am not sure what to do about it considering that was some time ago, and also because the listing states silver plated (which is copper underneath for those that aren't aware). My return policy is 7 days.
Any suggestions?

If I bought a silver-colored ring I would expect it to remain silver-colored; unless I was told the color may fade/darken/change etc over time.
Unless there was something in your listing describing this possibility, if I were your buyer I'd expect a refund too - the item is no longer as described.

I may would ask that she send a pic of what it looks like to just varify there is a problem. I then would restate what the listing said. I hate an unhappy customer so I may would try to make them happy by maybe exchanging or making it right. 2 months is really not a long time to have something and the finish fail although you stated what the finish was.

I guess with paying $9 for a ring that states silver plated, I would not expect it to be something fantastic honestly. I've always known silver plated things to not remain silver forever. I guess that's not common thought? Plus, I take good care of my own jewelry, I have no idea what other people do to theirs - ie swimming, showering, sleeping in it.

It's a wire ring for the record. Not a band ring.
I was thinking that I would send a replacement if she sent the other back, but I wanted to get other opinions first.

If I were you I'd refund. In your titles some of your rings say "sterling silver" and not sterling silver plated. This is misleading. I would recommend adding "plated" to your titles to not mislead your customers.

Silver plated to me, as a buyer, would not make me think it would turn another color. I, personally, would need you to write out that information in the listing. Stating that over time (perhaps give a time frame) the ring may fade or discolor.

Silver plate should not war off in 2 months unless it was like .1 mm thick. Is she talking about the silver wearing through or is she talking about tarnish?

I'd ask for photo proof, apologize for not having in the listing that the color could fade, refund or replace and then update all listings to include that they could fade.

Sharyn - this is not related to this shop. All of the items in this shop are sterling silver.
