USPS made me a domestic seller

Just sold 3 hair clippies to Canada. Oops! Forgot to change my postage fees. So because of my mistake I'm now making about 14 cents...LOL. Obviously I am honoring my sale but boy...did I learn how to change all my international shipping prices really quick!!

So I'm thinking that my $2 shipping domestically is reasonable, but not $7 internationally. Gee...thanks Mr. Postmaster!!

I recently had a customer pay 3x the price of the item to have it shipped internationally. If they want it, they will pay for it, but we will likely lose some customers.
I had a rant about this a couple of days ago lol! I agree that it is a bit high but I was told this: try to get it there myself for that price, try going without the post office when it goes bankrupt, didn't I read the forums??

LOL aren't people so lovely.

I too had several orders that got by me before I knew what happened and actually lost 2-3 bucks on them:( I am still having some international people buy but not as many. I wish good luck to you and everyone else
I was so happy that the rates in my display shop didn't go up that much, they are large lightweight boxes, that I didn't even think about my jewelry shop and yep what use to cost around $3.00 to Canada went up to $7.35 and of course that was where the order was from!
Why don't you just raise your shipping rates? Then people might buy at the new rates, but if you won't sell internationally at all, then for sure they won't. Why not let the customer decide?

I raised mine, and I am still getting just as many international orders.
We had a $6.50 leather bow barrette go international during the holidays (no other item purchased) when we were only offering 1st class international Registered mail.....to the tune of $18.75.

If they want it, they will buy.
No, no, no. You will not lose customers. The rest of the world is used to and expects these higher rates. The US has been behind the times for years. Don't disappoint our overseas customers by not offering to sell to them. I can't even imagine why you would leave them out because of shipping costs. Let your customer decide. International folks who shop on-line expect to pay for shipping. If they are not willing to pay these shipping costs they do not even shop on-line. We never had those customers, so we can't miss them.
Today I mailed a package to Canada first class.
Weight was 4 oz and charge was 8.55!

But--yes, I did up my prices last week so I only had to "Eat" about 75 cents on this one!

the lighter weights seem to have gone up most of all.
Rates in other countries are pretty high even if you're just shipping within the same country. Like cheap petrol, the US is accustomed to cheap postage; the rest of the world is used to paying more!
I get the frustration - honestly - but I think what we need to keep in mind is how fortunate we've been for the last several years while the rest of the world has been dealing with higher postage. The USPS is just now catching up, and while it's an initial shock, it's really not that big of a deal.
