There's a billion threads on this already and etsy made a statement in one of them.

Sellers here would go absolutely CRAZY in the Forums demanding a one day refund, especially International Sellers..
But Etsy will be most active in NYC today...trying to save our Venue

Chad Dickerson from chaddickerson says Highlighted Post
Hi everyone,
We're going to make our opposition to the legislation clear tomorrow, because the fight against it isn't over. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is planning to proceed with a vote on PIPA in the Senate on January 24. We think it's important to make sure lawmakers understand Etsy's continuing opposition to the legislation, so we are going to join companies like Google and Wikipedia in protest by putting a message on our home page tomorrow. We know that many Etsy sellers depend on Etsy for their livelihoods so we are limiting the protest to the home page because we don't want to disrupt buying and selling on Etsy, but this is too important for us to remain silent.
I will also be joining a large group of Etsy employees and concerned members of the local community here in NYC to protest outside the offices of Senator Charles Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (both supporters of the bills). I’m confident that we can defeat this legislation and wanted to let the community know we are taking action.

I am totally moved by all websites that are getting the word out there!
Some people were totally clueless.

If Etsy blacked out for a day...? can you imagine how the supporters of this proponent will respond...?

Marma, Google IS blacking out. But I don't think their server times have hit "today" yet in all of the USA. They are a company that would be completely screwed by this law if it passed.
I've done what I can to join. tina-m.com/home.html (I don't actually know how to deactivate my whole site)

Does anyone remember last year when Etsy had a problem and the site was down for almost an hour? The Forums were on fire, for weeks... with Sellers demanding partial credit for lost selling time....of course I don't know what 1 hr. would amount to $ when we pay twenty cents for 4 months! LOL
Math has never been my strong point..

It seems there are different levels of participation. You can search on Google but if you click on the black box that is over their name it takes you to a site with info about the bills and a link to write your representatives and senators.
Flickr is working but allows you to darken photos so it doesn't look like it will be down but you might not be able to view all of it.
I personally think the impact would be greatest if google was not searchable, wikipedia gone, facebook AND twitter down for the day. But it isn't looking like that will be the case.
