How do you feel about buying edible items on etsy?

I have no problem buying soap online and I have done so MANY times........
there are some fantastic soapers here :)

That being said...I would *never* buy edibles from a shop that didn't state they were licensed and inspected....no way no how.

I sell soap and body products and all of the ingredients are listed right in thelisting. Same goes for edibles...people have allergies. If there is something you are interested in, just check their feedback and read through the ingredients...there are awesome products on here in both those categories.

@ marmalady. I Never was trying to upset any food sellers. I just dont feel buying food over the internet is safe... and i wanted everyone elses opinion.

@Marmalady, I agree. no need to start this thread anyways. If you're not comfortable that's ok ..... Just don't purchase these items. No need to say negative things

Most edibles sellers here have all the proper licenses, food handlers certificates etc that their area demands

Yes there are some that are flying under the radar without the proper paperwork -- but there are also some very shoddy jewellery makers on here too

Like for any seller -- check their feedback - if you have doubts, then don't buy

hmmm, depends. I think the baked goods on Etsy look so incredibly yummy but I would be hesitant to buy unless they're coming from an actually bake shop and have overwhelming excellent feedback, AND it's something that I just could not buy locally. I wouldn't want to buy something that someone is making out of their kitchen just because I don't know what their cleanliness would be like. I know bake shops would be the same as far is standards of cleanliness, but that's just how *I* feel about it. Really though, I would want to buy edibles locally.
