I started my Etsy as an entrepreneurial endeavor that i was hoping to include my children in. I'd like to have them with me helping me promote and I'd like to show them how to run their own shop that they may have some day. I'd also like for them to help me pick out a Father's Day gift and other such things. I've tried the "-mature" search addition and it hasn't worked. The same items have come up.
So i wonder if it would be possible for Etsy to set up something to filter all mature content for all searches unless it is asked for. Maybe it could never show up on the front page for people who've set their preferences against it, and then after we put in search words and hit search, a box could come up asking us if we want to have the mature content included in the search. Also I don't know if 'mature content' is specifically defined by Etsy, but if it isn't, having a solid definition would also help so that sellers would know for certain whether or not to label their item as such.
I don't mean to offend any sellers of mature content. Many of those things have their place. If i were looking to buy lingerie, i'd need to see how it looks to wear. And if Etsy isn't willing to make the shopping and business experience safer for children to be around, that's ok, too. I can just work on my Etsy alone or with my husband and i can find another way to teach my children about business. But i'd like to include them, so i hope you'll consider my suggestion. :)
