These newer pieces are a product of time spent in the studio with my new love of fabric and my always love of woodburning. These works are a deviation from my more traditional 'thinking' pieces but offer a new sense of simple design. They look great displayed as either a stand alone piece for a small space or as part of a bigger cluster of unique and original artwork.
This is a small piece, having used an embroidery hoop (just under 3.5" in diameter) as a frame in which to mount the original artwork. The fabric selected for this piece is not stretched in the hoop in your traditional fashion, instead I mounted the fabric to a sheet of hand cut and sanded Italian Poplar which has then been seamlessly mounted to the embroidery frame.
I have woodburned the 'stiching' onto the piece and then stamped the word Sew using metal letter stamps that leave the letters pressed into the wood. Due to the nature of the impression the letters stand out best when the piece is displayed in a location that receives brighter light.
The woodburned/stamped piece has then been mounted onto the top of the fabric mount to complete the piece. The entire work is then coated in an acid free fabric/wood safe finish. The back has been signed and dated.
**PLEASE NOTE** This listing is for the piece shown in the first photo only
