I hand quilled this cross from taupe and rusty brown papers and gave it an old world feel by gilding the edges gold. I backed the cross with a lovely off white handmade paper, tearing the edges for extra interest and texture without distracting from the beauty of the cross. The entire piece is adhered to mat board for durability.

The quilling is displayed in a mat brown decorator frame accented with carved swirls and bronze highlights. The art is behind glass to protect it from dust and curious fingers, but can easily be removed if desired. The frame’s easel back makes it easy to display most anywhere.

*Approximate size of quilled cross: 2-3/4” x 4-1/2”
*Size of unframed quilling: 4” x 6”
*Inside frame dimension: 3-1/2" x 5-1/4"
*Outside frame dimension: 7-1/2” x 9-1/2”

I am proud of the quality and originality of my work and sign each piece. As my quilling is often given as a special gift, a professionally printed product tag providing a brief history of quilling is attached.

Faith adds so much to our lives. Let this cross help you celebrate yours and share it with others.

The art of quilling (also known as paper filigree) was born over 500 years ago when artists discovered that narrow strips of paper could be rolled, scrolled, fluted, and fringed, and then arranged to create beautiful designs. The original tool used to roll the strips of paper and vellum was the quill of a bird feather, giving this art its name.
