The fleur de lis has long been a symbol of French heritage of Louisiana and New Orleans and in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, this symbol has also come to represent the rebirth of the area. You now have a chance to own or give a unique piece of stainless steel jewelry that is produced in limited quantities.
Stainless steel Fleur de lis Pendant, 1\/8" thick in a limited edition of 1,723. The number 1,723 was chosen because that is the official death toll left by Hurricane Katrina as of November 26th 2006 according to Wikipedia.
This stainless steel fleur de lis pendant was hand hammered on an anvil in Denver, CO by former Slidellian, John Doherty. He learned metal working the hard way at Southern Shipbuilding in Slidell, LA. The hammering has created a subtle texture unlike that found on mass produced items. This high quality pendant with a polished stainless steel finish is 2" tall and is 1\/8" thick and should last many lifetimes. The stainless steel has a natural finish and there is no plating to rub off. The fleur de lis pendant includes a 18" satin cord with a sterling silver clasp. The color is silver even though the pendant reflected other colors in some photos.
8 29 05 can be stamped on the back side for an additional $5.00 per pendant. Additonal 18" black leather cords with sterling silver clasps are available at $7.00\/ea.
