This wool comes from our Suffolk/Hampshire cross sheep. It is the best wool for needle felting I've come across. Rather than spending lots of time and energy needling and needling, this wool catches right up and will felt very tightly; tight enough for sturdy legs without armatures. It is not good for wet felting for the same reasons that it's GREAT for needle felting. I use the standard creamy white color for building the underlying shape. I add the colors on top like painting. Very nice results.
The photos are of the same roving. The photos with the roving on the "bright white" sheet of paper show the true "creamy" color. However when not against white, the wool appears to be bright white.
I've also spun this wool into lovely skeins. Great for items that you want to last a long time and might be washing a lot (ie. soakers), because it isn't given to wet felting or shrinking.
