The other night as I was working on my latest salvaged lamp design I was listening to Pandora on my iPad and I had the thought to build an iPad stand that was actually cool and upcycled and ecofriendly all at the same time. However I did not want only an iPad stand, I wanted a stand that would also amplify my indie music without needing to be plugged in or have any fancy electronic or metal components.
And so what you see above was born : ) Four pieces of salvaged hardwood decking and some carefully handpainted white accents come together to make a simple but awesomely functional iPad stand that will prop up your darling either in portrait or landscape mode and manage to look cool at the same time. The amplifying properties of the hardwood works only when the iPad is standing upright (since the speaker is on the bottom) and take my word for it it really does make it a whole lot louder!
I will be making a video of it soon so if you have doubts just message me or email lukelampco [!at] gmail.com! I will make each to order and every piece of wood has it's own unique character and patina - I sand each piece but do not refinish because I think the natural grays are too cool to cover up.
The stand is about 12" wide so it can hold both an iPad and iPhone at the same time; not exactly sure why you'd want to but I figured I'd mention it : )
This will work for either the first or second iPad so no compatibility issues here.
Thanks for stopping by!
