Schrafft's was founded in 1861 as a candy company and expanded into restaurants; it had 55 restaurants by the time it was bought by PET in 1968. The store has been immortalized in movies (e.g., Breakfast at Tiffanys, Kramer vs. Kramer, Auntie Mame) and in literature (a poem by W.H. Auden and a book by Don DeLillo). George Carlin even mentioned Schrafft's in one of his routines.
The tin is stamped Canco in a circle on the bottom; the American Can Company used this mark in the early 1900s.
The tin is in very good condition, with a few scratches and small dents.
