Before slumping I thoroughly clean the bottle inside and out. I then slump the bottle in my kiln using 7 separate temperature controlled steps over a 16 hour time frame which ensures the stability of the glass. After the bottle has cooled completely, I grind a hole in the neck. I then take a copper wire and make a loop behind the bottle that can be used to hang the bottle on your wall. I pass the wire through a glass bead on the front of the bottle to cover the hole and the wire is then twisted and secured at the back of the bottle. These extra steps eliminate the ugly black wire that shows when a wire is put into the bottle before slumping. It makes a much nicer appearance whether hanging on your wall or sitting on your table.
