The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was a fraternal organization of veterans of the Union Army who served in the American Civil War. It was founded in 1866 and disbanded when its last member died in 1956.
This adjustable freestyle (self-tie) bow tie is made from cotton in a stars and stripes motif. The bow is about 2 1/2 inches at its widest point, and the tie can adjust to fit necks from about 14 inches to about 18 inches. Perfect for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, or any other patriotic holiday!
Contrary to popular misconception, bow ties are no harder to tie than regular neckties. All you need is someone to show you how, and there are plenty of clips you can learn from on YouTube.
Every true gentleman should tie his own bow ties. After all... you wouldn't wear a clip-on neck tie. Don't wear a clip-on bow tie either!
