This listing is for a Made-to-Order cutting board with a natural front edge that drops over the edge of your table or work surface to help stabilize it a bit. This is an excellent approach to outdoor cooking or it simply looks good in the kitchen. The board itself will be a cutting board layup with the leading edge piece being a hand-worked, debarked addition that expresses the unique character of the log from which the wood was cut. It is sealed with food safe mineral oil.

Simple Care and Maintenance:
Our wood offerings are sealed with several applications of food-safe mineral oil using open palms to better imbed oils into the wood grains... a method we think expresses the full richness and patina of the wood. We use mineral oil because it penetrates deep into the wood grain to offer a better initial seal. The oil or surface product you use should be a personal choice.
Simple maintenance only needs a mild soap scub-down and thorough rinse. The piece should then be allowed to dry before use. You should periodically oil the board after cleaning and drying for a time in direct sunlight. Oil the whole board with your hands, gently working any dry patches to an even application. You can feel when you've reached a saturation point. Allow it to set for several hours before using. Beeswax products can bring out more luster than oil but can be short-lived, and specialty cutting board oils are fine also. Try virgin olive oil as an occasional alternative. And...enjoy.
