Open me up to find I begin & end with vintage style decorative paper featuring old maps of Italy at the front, and the Gulf of Sidra at the back. These have been aged for an added dimension. In between, I am filled with 80 sheets (160 pages counting both sides) of hand-torn 200gsm Toscana watercolor paper made in Germany by Hahnemühle.
Toscana is a mould made natural white, acid-free & age resistant paper which has a rough texture on one side & smooth on the other. Each piece has been richly tea-stained (using an archival process) for an aged effect. This has produced spontaneous results with an appearance not unlike ancient rock art. If you are after a truly unique background for your art work then I am certainly the journal for you.
My pages have been pressed & hand-stitched directly into my coat with emerald green linen thread allowing me to lay completely flat when in use. This way you can reach to my every morsel.
When not in use, your creations will be protected by my triple wrap leather tie, which simply secures on my back with a vintage emerald green wooden bead.
Measuring 6 x 4 ½ inches with a 1 ¼ inch thick spine, I’m a unique sketchbook for the wandering artist after something a little different.
