William Wallace was a leader in the Wars of Scottish Independence. There's a pretty good description of his life on Wikipedia with some good secondary links at the bottom of the article ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Wallace

Also, there's a recent movie about him and his exploits called Braveheart, with Mel Gibson .. of course, it's a little "Hollywood", but aren't most films? Anyhoo, interesting fella :)
