Hello and welcome to Bee Happy Art! What started out as a creative outlet whilst changing nappies around the clock with my eldest two children, has grown into a family business which I now run alongside my (long suffering) husband from our little corner of the world in the north west of England. Read on to find out how it all came about….

The story starts some time ago when I graduated university with an illustration degree but wasn’t yet ready to join the grown up world of work, and the thought of pursuing a career scared the life out of me! I did have a severe case of wanderlust however, so off I went with my backpack and working visas and a year into my journey landed in Australia, where my travelling days came to an abrupt halt when I fell head over heels for my Sydneysider husband to be Michael. Needless to say this wasn’t in my grand plan but I’ve always been one to roll with the punches so we got married and lived happily ever after down under - for 4 years.

We then decided to leave the sunshine and move back to my family in the UK (hence the long suffering part for my husband) which is where we have settled and become a family of 5 (we added to the brood with a third child!) and through the chaos of raising these little humans and running our very own small business from home our schedule is non-stop mayhem… but we wouldn’t change a single thing!!!!! We LOVE our family and we LOVE growing our family business.

It began when I created some animal illustrations to decorate my first baby’s bedroom, it felt great to be illustrating again and I wanted to expand my skills so I started to produce prints on fabric, creating personalised home décor art pieces which proved to make popular gifts for special occasions. I am obsessed with spots, stripes, fabrics, fonts and COLOUR! I love seeking out new ways to introduce it into my work, finding inspiration everywhere from the back yard splashy perennials I 'try to' grow…. to the polo shirt display shelves at United Colors of Benetton (SO hypnotising I could look at them all day.)

I knew Etsy would be a great place to showcase my work so I eagerly opened up a shop, listed some items and from the moment I had my first sale (which took a while) I was hooked! I feel the same amount of excitement now as I did that very first sale and can’t imagine doing anything else (I knew that illustration degree would come in one day!) I am honoured to have the opportunity to create a truly unique piece of art commemorating a special moment in someone’s life… and to know my creations are featured in people’s homes is the best feeling ever!

Our business name ‘’Bee Happy Art’’ was derived from our friendly bumble bee (one of my first alphabet illustrations) and embodies the way we want our art to make you feel: HAPPY. Our customers are everything to us and we want you to be delighted with your experience with us. We are always happy to work on custom orders and whether you know exactly what you want, or need some guidance… we are here to help every step of the way. We have a dedicated studio within our home where we create everything ourselves, giving each order the time and attention to detail it requires.

Our small business journey is a thrilling rollercoaster of a ride which has come a long way, and who knows what the future holds (my husband may even feel the Australian sun on his back again one day!) … but we are elated to be here, raring to go and as always rolling with the punches.
