MidoriTakaki on Etsy is filled with dreams, imagination, stories and smile. My shop is where I share my world with you. I love hearing my creation made you happy. That makes me very happy. That drives me to create more.

I wanted to be a writer when I was a child. I always had stories in my head. And I still do. They used to prevent me sleeping at night. But one night in late 2010 I made a little clay rabbit; I had a good night sleep on that night. Since then, I make something almost every evening. I feel that I am writing my journal in clay. When other people wanted to buy my creations, I decided to open my Etsy shop.

I love animals; we live with one chicken, two dogs and two parrots. They give me plenty of inspiration. I also love walking in the woods where I get a spiritual experience, which often reflects in my work. I am also attracted by history, or anything ancient before history. I like to imagine how people used to feel. My imagination is often the source of my work.

My Etsy shop is my pet project. Now I sell my work in galleries, but I love Etsy community, where I can have direct connection with people all over the world. It is so special! I feel all customers are my friends, who share the joy of my world. Mike, my husband, says that people who buy my work tend to be very nice. He is right! I am so lucky to have lovely people in my shop! And even better, the majority of customers return to my shop for more.

My creation is stoneware ceramics, which is fired up to 2264-2372F/1240—1300C. Clay becomes vitrified at that temperature. Having been fired, they will last almost for ever. They will survive all of us, and all our children and their children and so on. I feel very spiritual and special to be able to create something almost eternal in a humans’ sense.
