Babushka is off to market with a cart filled with freshly-picked pretty posies. As the spring morning is beautiful but crisp, and her cart, lovely with its overflowing flowers but rather heavy, her cheeks are flushed with color! To sell at the market today, Babushka has donned her favorite shawl which she made from a pretty scrap of cotton and her old woolen coat which she knitted from old wool sweaters - Babushka never wastes anything!Babushkas is approximately 7 inches (17.5 cm) high and 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide . Her face and shawl are sewn from soft cottons, while her body is made of beautiful woolen felt, the product of felting colorful sweaters found in thrift shops. The flowers in her pretty posy, also made from the same woolen felt, are hand-cut and attached to her body with woolly French knots. Her sweet face has been hand-drawn, and a cord loop sewn to the top of her head makes it so she can hang around with you all day long! Babushka owes her plump figure to polyester stuffing; her shape and her plumpness will vary slightly depending on the felted wool used for her body and - well - because she is happily handmade!
