This substantial and elegant box features cherry burl top and drawerfronts, curly cherry sides, and quartersawn cherry frame with cherry accents. Like no other hardwood in the world, black cherry is full of surprises. This piece shows off some of the many facets of what is also known as poor man's mahogany. Finishing off the piece is a little bit of bark inclusion cherry used for the trim on top.

Hand crafted, frame and panel, mortise and tenon construction. Case is lined with white cedar. Finest handcut dovetailed drawers, handturned cherry pulls, black cotton velvet on drawer bottoms.

Top, sides and drawerfronts are in handmade veneer of 3/32 inch thickness. Drawerfronts are bound in curly cherry with mitered corners. Carved solid cedar dustpanel (bottom) and back.

Professional hand rubbed finish of blended oil and wax.

Note: Wax is burnished by hand to a high gloss. Surface preparation is immaculate and the finish is like none other. Silky smooth, resistant to stains and most liquids and yet with no buildup whatsoever. Develops a fine patina that can be renewed effortlessly years from now with no sanding or chemicals.

Overall box dimensions: Approximately 10 inches square, front to back, and approximately 13 inches tall.

All wood used is Green. Cherry burl and curly cherry are dehumidifier kiln dried premium, but local and sustainable from a small(2person) business. All other cherry, cedar and secondary hardwoods are salvaged and or local air dried. Box contains considerable salvaged material and has very low carbon footprint. Crafted by hand in a low energy process. A truely eco friendly gift of the highest quality.
