Pennsylvania Dutch Inspired Hand Embroidered Pot Holder / Hot Pad

I love all things Dutch and Pennsylvania Dutch. I have been wanting to stitch this pattern for a long time and finally got around to doing it! This reminds me of all those pretty hope chests that were painted with these lovely designs so long ago. I have made this into a pot holder that is completely functional, as well as beautiful. It comes complete with a loop at the top for hanging. The center of the pot holder contains several layers of quality cotton quilters batting. It's just the right thickness and machine washable,(I have prewashed it after stitching it). The back is done in a great matching red calico fabric with tiny blue and white flowers. The top layer is "tacked" neatly down to the bottom layer to prevent bunching and twisting when washing.
