Fire Lotus
Description
For the Etsy BeadWeavers April challenge theme of "Fire and Flowers", I wanted to do something completely different from the work I normally do. I mean, it's supposed to be a challenge. And, since I'm not very girly, I thought that a flower would be outside my normal zone.I chose the lotus blossom because it is a prefect analogy for life and what many aspire to be. Lotus seeds are sown in the mud. It is out of dirt they push themselves up, up, up, into stagnant water. Their journeys continue towards the heavens where they rest above the muck, floating on the water's surface. When they bloom, they range in color from creamy white to soft pink to the truest red to fiery orange to golden yellow. Like us, there are many colors of lotus blossoms, but all are beautiful.
Now you can own your very own fiery lotus blossom! I utilized tiny delica beads to make each of the 18 petals and finished off the flower with a vintage orange button. The entirety of the piece is stitched with Fireline, making it extremely durable. There are more than 10 hours of work in this piece and more than 3100 beads in this flower. It measures exactly 4" across at the widest point.
And here's the best part: I couldn't decide how to finish it! It would make a stunning brooch, an amazing necklace or a truly spectacular bracelet. And I would be happy to make it into any of those things. Please convo me and let me know what you would like BEFORE you purchase the item. Most finishes will be no extra charge (but if you want a cuff bracelet, we need to talk). :)
This is a one-of-a-kind piece, when this is gone, I may not do another one.
