Original Lundberg surreal drawing

Description

This is a small drawing measuring aprox. 5 1/2" tall and 5" wide. It is drawn with an ebony pencil on archival bristol paper.

"Sometimes I understand them so well..." is the title of this piece.

This drawing began with straws and I turned it into something living. It seems to me that all straws should be alive (especially the bendy kind)..... I love to work with my ebony pencil and my kneaded eraser ... I erase on my dawings as much as I add the pencil - I love the values that are created uing the two.

I am influenced by the surrealist artists such as Dorothea Tanning as well as childrens illustration. I love what something ordinary can turn into and how the viewers imagination can be as much a part of the work as the actual piece....
