Natural Silk Rods
Description
Carrier Silk Rods are the by product of reeling silk from their cocoons. As the silk filament is unraveled from the cocoons into a skein it is carried over a metal rod. Silk builds up on this carrier rod and must be removed from the machinery. This silk tube up is slit down one side and removed. The slit tubes still have the sericin (worm spit) holding it together. The rods can be dyed, painted, inked, separated into layers, sprayed with water and ironed flat or degummed. They have been used in paper making, jewelry, spinning, felting, altered art, textural stitching and silk fusion. The rods vary in shapes and sizes. I have left these in their raw state so you can do with them as you wish. There are six rods in each packet similar to the one's shown above.
I carry a large quanity of these at my farm so if you wish more then I have offered here, please convo me to get further information. I offer bulk purchase prices, wholesale prices (must have a license)and revised shipping.
