Medium Oval Casserole Handthrown Stoneware Pottery 3

Description

Not many potters make oval dishes especially ones this big so this is a rare one. It is very time consuming to make ovals and if not done properly you have a huge failure rate.

This oval shaped Casserole Dish is one of my biggest sellers for wedding gifts. The oval measures 9 3/4" X 3 1/4" without the handles and 10 3/4 x 3 1/4" with. It should hold about 2 quarts. This piece was wheel thrown and then altered to get the oval shape. I have placed nice thick handles on the sides for ease of taking this Casserole Dish from the hot oven or microwave.

You can always use this as a serving dish but we do bake in ours, and then into the dishwasher for easy clean up. Stoneware bakes like glass but keeps things warm much longer. Not only can you bake casseroles in it you can roast meat, or even cook breads in it. It is not intended to go on the stovetop. Great to take to potlucks because you will always know which dish is yours.

Please place in cold oven (even if it is full of food) and let it heat up with the oven to avoid thermal shock.

All pieces are hand thrown and some natural variations will occur.

Insurance will be included on all pieces over $20. There is no need to worry about breakage during shipping in 20 years I have only lost a few pieces. I pack things very securely and I will gladly replace items that are damaged in shipping.
