Dani's Sterling Silver Ring size 6

I call this Dani's ring because my daughter Danielle and I made this lost wax cast ring. This sterling silver ring is a size 6 1/8 and is approximately 1/4 inches wide. This is a nice sturdy ring with lots of sterling in it. Really pretty on the finger too!

In lost wax casting, a wax model of the finished ring is made. It is exaclty the same size as the finished ring and has every detail that the artist wants in the finished piece. The wax model is placed in plaster and the plaster is left to dry. Before placing in the plaster, a sprue is added which is a port from the wax model to the outside edge of the plaster. The plaster, with the wax model inside, is heated until the wax melts and drains out the sprue port. This leaves a cavity inside the plaster that is the inverse of the ring that the artist designed. Ths cavity can be filled with molten sterling silver through the sprue port. After the silver has become solid and cooled, the artist removes the sprue port, which is now filled with silver, cleans off the area where the port was placed and makes any required finishing touches. The riing is then cleaned and shined and ready to be worn.
