fine silver moth pendant on chain

this pendant is handmade in fine silver (from art clay silver). it is stamped with a moth and it has been oxidized to bring out the details. the raised surfaces were polished to a high shine. the pendant is about an inch tall and two inches wide, and it comes on a 16" sterling silver ball chain with a spring-ring clasp.

precious metal clays, such as art clay silver and pmc, are pure silver in clay form. fine silver particles (recycled from old film negatives) are suspended in a clay-like binder. when fired in a kiln, the binder burns off and the silver particles fuse together, leaving a pure silver object. the high silver content makes the piece less prone to tarnish.
