World Face Two glass frit painted fused
Description
Tribal faces from around the world are featured in our World Face Series. The second face is from the Southern Papau New Guinea area where indigenous tribes continue the practice of vivid face painting.Frit painting is a process of grinding up sheet glass into various sizes of powders and using those powders on top of other sheet glass, similar to sand painting. The layers of frit and sheet glass are then kiln fired to over 1500 degrees F. Additional frits and sheet glass may be added as the patterns begin to develop. Multiple firings and often extensive finishing work on the cold glass mean that most kiln fired fused glass has been literally days in preparation.
We utilize the finest in fusible glass and grind our own frit powders. Our wrought iron stands are made up the road a piece here in Texas. Everything about our work is hand made, even the beads and macramé utilized in this piece are hand torchworked and woven by us.
This art piece is signed and numbered by the artist. It will never be duplicated. The piece measures 10 inches wide and approximately 13 inches tall, the stand adds another three inches in height and one inch in width. The stand is included.
